I have a ASUS A7V mobo with two Crucial mem DIMMs in it. Both are 256m each. I just recently bought another 256m DIMM of the same make and model, again from Curcial. I installed it in the 3rd mem slot but my BIOS doesn't see the extra 128m during POST. I tested the new DIMM out by itself and it's working fine, yet I can't get my 'puter to see the DIMM in the 3rd slot. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Try shuffling the RAM around by changing which stick goes in the diferent slots, re-seating might do the trick - as the configuration is supposed to work.
Since it's Crucial, it's either a PC2100 Stick or a PC2700 Stick, since Crucial doesn't make anything outside the JEDEC specifications.

A7V uses SDRAM - this is a real problem child
A7V133 uses SDRAM
A7V266A, A7V333 uses DDR
which are you referring to???

Also, many boards are not stable at all with all DIMM slots filled. Are teh timings the same? Alright, that's all I got. Salaam.

Well after trying all the DIMMs in different slots, I was about to give up. Then I thought about updating my BIOS from v1006 to v1011 to see what happens... *shivers* Since my computer has been working fine until this recent mem upgrade, I didn't want to mess with the BIOS.

After updating to v1011, I saw the mem test go from the normal 512meg to 768meg! Success! POST saw my new chips with the new BIOS. Now I'm crossing my fingers hoping nothing bad pops up from the update. :)

Thanks to all.
