A7V jumperless mode - NEED HELP !

GoHAnSoN

Senior member
a7v, flashed to 1009

set all dip/jumper to jumperless mode (all off) (including JEN/2-3)

but, i still cannot set my CPU speed in the bios !
what is wrong ?
the cpu speed in the bios is fixed to 900
where it should be 1.2G on my Tbird.....

what s wrong ? i cannot figure out.......help !!

the asus a7v wont run at 133mhz fsb (meaning it wont run 266 tbirds)

i know the board has settings to overclock the fsb, but the kt133 chipset just cant get much higher then 110mhz fsb

so your problem is your cpu is designed to run 9x multiplier on a 133mhz fsb(1200mhz), but your actually running at 9x multiplier on 100mhz bus, or 900mhz

but... dont worry 🙂 you can run yours at 1.2ghz, the cpu must be unlocked (but every 1.2ghz ive ever seen comes from the factory unlocked so that wont be a problem for you)

so what you need to do is instead of having the board set totally jumper free, you need to set it manually with the dipswitches..

set the dipswitches to run the cpu at a 12x multiplier (this will give you 12x100 or 1200mhz or 1.2ghz)

actually the newer bios revisions have remapped some of the multipliers to give you 13x and 14x

so with your current bios (1009) 12.5x is remapped to be 13x, and 5x has been remapped to 14x

meaning if you sent the dipswiches to run at 12.5x it will actually run 13x100 or 1.3ghz

ahhh i had to go back and check 🙂 been to long!!!

here is the deal
any bios 1007 or newer has the 12.5x remapped to 13x (this you already verified)

as for 14x you also need bios 1007 or newer, but... it only works with cpu's that have a default multiplier of 14x, and the only cpu's with a default multiplier of 14x are 1.4ghz 200 tbirds

so in otherwords if you have a 1.4ghz (200) you can run it at 1.4ghz on an a7v... otherwise you can only get up to 1.3ghz (any cpu that can run 1.3ghz or faster can be run at 1.3ghz on this board)

** side note ** i have personally used an a7v at 1.3ghz by way of 13x multiplier, but... ive never verified the 14x, the info provided on 14x is from stuff ive read and from friends who have done it

humn....need some one to confirm, i dont want to risk anything 🙂
and i;m too lazy to test it out.... those dip switches are...sooo.....tiny......
