Okay guys, I doubt any of you have seen this before. My new A7V is running perfectly, except my hard drive light does not work. And yep, I have changed the cable to see if I had it in wrong, but it does not work.

Is this just a small defect on my motherboard? Also, I tested the LED to make sure it was good by putting it in the power light, and it worked.

Nothing I can do to fix this right?

Thanks.

should work just fine.... but alot of people have had problems getting the ATA100 controller to work. I guess it is just hard to get working, after you get it working it should be fine though. Good Luck, those 75GXPs are pretty fast!

ummm, mine works on the 66 controller..

the trick was, when I plugged it in like I "thought" it was supposed to be, it didn't work. I flipped it around and wallah!

try flipping it around. I think they have the pins marked wrong on the board?

Thats strange.. it wouldn't work no matter how I plugged it in. I just moved my drives over to the ata100 controller anyway (even though they are a 33 and a 66). The controller works with widnows fine as long as you properly install the windows drivers and flip the proper bios settings if you want to boot from it.

According to my Manual Revision 1.01 the IDE Activity LED`s will only work@the ATA100 controller:

<< [IDE Activity LED (Hardware Setup)
(Some useless stuff)
Read and write activity by devices connected to the Primary or Secondary IDE connectors will not cause the LED to light up.
>>

BUT there are 3 revisions of the A7V out AFAIK (this is from my memory and may be inaccurate):
1.01: Original one with onboard sound and without the multiplier adjustment
1.02: Without the sound, but with the multiplier adjusting dip switches
1.03: As 1.02 but with an thermal probe preinstalled somehow to measure CPU temperature

Maybe the HDD activit LED does work on one of those revisions, I think thats why Whitedog´s LED does work, and some others don`t...

The problem with the HD LED on the ATA66 controller was fixed with board revision 1.01.P (I have this board and all works O.K.) and later :)

Version 1.02 added thermal probe under CPU.

I have heard of 1.03 but have never saw any information on it. The manual revision is 1.03, but I don't think the two go hand-in-hand...

Good Luck...
