A7V compatability...

I have an Asus A7V revision 1.02 with a duron 650Mhz. 3 months ago i tried to buy a thunderbird with a 200Mhz bus and i didn't find any. i know i can't use a xp in my board but is a duron with a morgan core (1200Mhz or even more) compatible with my board? will a thunderbird 1400 with 266 bus work if i set the bus to 200Mhz? it will be a little slow..i would prefer a duron with a morgan core..is there any bios that suports it?i really can't afford a asus A7v266a rigth now..🙁 thanks in advance..

With the latest bios...1.2 Ghz Tbird should be ur choice. It will POST as 900 Mhz initially. But u can run the mobo in jumperfree mode & change the multiplier to 12 (12.0 X 100 FSB). Most 1.2 Ghz is unlock. When buy...just check the L1 bridges...connect means unlocked.

Performance increase will be noticeable. At least better than the Duron. I'm not sure if the latest bios had the multiplier of more than 12. But 1.2 Ghz...u r safe.

what bios do i need to make a morgan core duron work with my a7v? is it possible to make a xp work in my a7v if i set the bus to 200? if yes, how? wich is faster: a duron 1200 or an thunderbird 1333/266@1000/200?

They sell Athlons upto 1.4GHz on 200FSB... if you check Pricewatch.com you can most likely find what you are looking for... It shows right when you click on CPU, the 200FSB counterparts.. there are also 1GHz, 1.2GHz, it's not just 1.4's.. good luck getting what you want, I'd get a lower T-Bird like a 1000 or a 1200.
