A7V BIOS Question

I have an Asus A7V that I'm using in my server. It used to be in my PC and when I had it there were problems with it locking up, which I later found out had to do with the BIOS. I downgraded my BIOS at that time to 1002, which is what it is currently at. However, when I did so I lost the ability to disable the onboard Promise ATA100 controller which I am not using. I am now using a Promise SX-6000 RAID controller, and WIndows is a little confused as to which is which. I see that the latest BIOS on Asus's website is 1011. Is this stable? Are there any problems with this BIOS? I don't want to make my system unstable as it is my server, but I also need to disable that onboard ATA100 somehow. Anyone who has experience with the 1011 (or any BIOS other than 1002) I'd greatly appreciate some advice. Thanks!
 

My 2 cents:
I see no problem in updating the BIOS to 1011 (the recent version you find on ASUS' website), at least not for stability-reasons.
Actually there were real improvements for a variety of smaller glitches in all the new BIOS-versions that came out for the A7V if I remember correctly.

But:
I don't actually use that board. It's been quite a while since we last had to deal with that model. On the other hand, I definitly have no bad memories of any sort concerning the latest BIOS we used (1011 probably, but please don't nail to that).

If your server can deal with "some" downtime, just do it and take your time while doing it.
 
if you have problems with 1011 (which you shouldnt 🙂 )

but you can always use 1007... it was a very popular bios version, very stable
 
just get the latest
anything over 1008 is a good version and will support the XP if you choose to put one of those in the system (of course no 266fsb)
