I have to set the FSB jumper on this motherboard and I intend to use PC3200.

I presume I have to set the jumpers here to 2-3 shorted in order to be able to enable that support. Could anyone confirm this for me?

I feel a little silly asking this, but what the hell.

Speaking of silly. I can't find any documentation to support whether this mobo can do RAID using the standard IDE interface (IDE1). It gives all kinds of documentation for using the SATA RAID, but if that's the only interface that can do RAID, I am going to feel like a real tool for having bought this board.

While you are confirming the jumpers for Tour, can anyone also confirm RAID 0 works on the standard IDE channel?

What RAID? That board doesn't have a RAID controller of any sort...no IDE or S-ATA...
And yes...you are a tool for buying something without doing any research on it...

The board has 2 onboard SATA ports which supports Raid 0/1. I do not use since I believe it only works with SATA HDs and they are not yet available (for future use).

OK, now I am feeling a little stupid, well a lot.

This jumper is for the CPU FSB not the mem clock, that apparently is set in the BIOS. The 200 FSB is for older procs/Durons.

Damn, this is my first ASUS board and I have to say I am having a difficult time adjusting to the differences between this and Abit.

Most options can be configured in Bios. The only notable thing you cannnot do in bios is disable the SATA serial headers ( requires a jumper to be set ). I left mine to the default postion ( enabled ), and it delays the boot up time by 10 secs by looking for SATA drives.

Do a little research yourself before you insult others. You don't know jack about this board if you think it has no RAID at all.

remember, there are TWO versions.. the regular, and the deluxe. the deluxe has the sata raid + soundstorm + firewire. the regular version is missing those. IMO, i would wait for maybe the epox to come out... but being me, i couldn't wait any longer (i had a everything but the motherboard.. waiting on the nforce.. ordered the asus on the first day i could :)).

CinderElmo is right. Please don't bash others for not knowing it all like you... oh yeah, that's right, you don't know it all either.

TourGuide, Asus has historically loved to put things on the board AND in the bios, while Abit usually sticks everything in the bios. From what I have read about this board, all you really need to set on the board is the CPU FSB, and you can pretty much adjust everything else in the bios.
It also looks like you will not be able to enjoy RAID until you 1) find some Serial ATA drives when they come out) or 2) find where you can buy some serial-to-parallel ATA converters. I know Abit ships these with their MAX series of motherboards. Maybe you can find someone who sell them by themselves.
I have found a review for you so you can find out a little more about your board:

http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=209

Make sure to consult your manual, as it should tell you what all your jumpers do and where all your good tweaking options are in the bios.

I did read a lot of A7N8X reviews and picked up the board because of the all the positives this board/chipset has to offer. Unfortunately, when I saw "onboard RAID" I just assumed it was IDE...and not SATA-only. While SATA-only RAID is not a dealbreaker (I only have one hard drive anyway!) it does narrow my upgrade choices...at least until SATA is a little more common in which case A7N8X owners will be set :)

Variety keeps you on your toes. ASUS does like to put jumpers on the board more than most vendors. They tend to use the jumpers to enable something and then let you set it in the BIOS. It makes sense in some ways. If you don't need something, you take it completely out of the picture. For most people though, the default jumpers are pretty well set.

I'm not sure whether this will do any good, but CompUSA has a PCI Raid Controller. I use it and it works pretty good for me. If I remember correctly you have 5 PCI Slots. I know you bought the board to have all the slots available and not to fix an error, but, heh! It's a possiblity. Good Luck

OverclockTHIS should be banned. Of the few things this user has posted, most of it has been rude. That out of the way, my Asus A7N8X rocks! I look forward to putting in some SATA drives and probably will experiment with RAID. While my WD JB drive will still stay as my primary boot drive, I'd like room for more files. SATA will suit the bill just fine.
