A7N8X Motherboard Resource Error, Help

Scope

Just built a comp with an A7N8X Deluxe and no matter what I do it won't install one of the Motherboard Resources. Running WinXP Home, using all the latest Nforce drivers. No other errors in the device manager. Simple says as follows.

Under "System Devices"
Yellow Exclamation mark for "Motherboard Resources"
Device Type "System Device"
Manufacturer "Standard system devices"
Location "on PCI bus"
Device Status "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system. (Code 42) Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

Any ideas?

I disabled everything i'm not using in the BIOS like SATA controller, firewire, etc. I used the drivers that came with the MB and everything worked perfectly. I stopped at that as far as the MB was concerned. I did upgrade the video drivers for my Radeon 8500 and other stuff I transfered over. After reading about all the problems others were having with this board I decided not to get too adventurous.

I turned off everything that the person isn't going to use. I'll go try the firewire port and see what happens.

This happens on Nforce 2 boards if you have both a USB mouse and keyboard hooked up. It doesn't hurt anything, but it is annoying. You can fix it, but it is only temporary unless you connect either your keyboard or mouse with the PS/2 adapter. If you remove the other two Motherboard Resources from the device manager, then the one that has the "!", it wil prompt you to reboot. Once you boot again it will be fine....until you reboot again or use a PS/2 adapter on either your KB or mouse.

I noticed that Windows Update was trying to pawn off an update on me for my 8RDA+ earlier today. Maybe it's intended to fix this, I didn't have time to delve into the whys and wherefores but I'll check it out on Monday.

Also, there is a valuable tidbit at Penstar Systems which may apply to just A7N8X-Deluxes, or perhaps to other nF2 MCP-T boards as well:
Asus has actually posted a quick little proggy that fixes this problem by switching the center and LFE signals. I believe this fix comes directly from NVIDIA, but it seems that Asus is the only one to post it at the moment. This little program is called NVSwap, and it does a couple of other swaps with other plugs on the motherboard.
There is a direct link from Penstar Systems' page to the fix 😀
