A7N8X is very sensitive to RAM isn't it. WOW, my ram w/ Hynix chips, works but my Corsair XMS 2400 doesn't. :(

Weird.

I'm not even sure where i bought this Hynix Ram, it's running at 133, w/ FSB at 166, but at least it runs. the Corsair won't even post. i get that message, about error in ram. :(

oh well, and that corsair ram was quite expensive when i bought it about a year ago too. :(

If you've got it set to run by SPD, try disabling SPD and setting the timings manually, to anything the old RAM will tolerate, then put the Corsair in and see if that works.

Oh, and after setting the timings manually, make sure the board makes it all the way through the following POST or it will probably assume the timings were a no-go, and revert to SPD again.

i'll tell you what tho, them corsair sticks were a bit long for this board. they didn't go in very smoothly (and yes, i'm sure i had the notch correct). it was just a bit long. on the msi board it fits well, but just a bit long for this board, makes me nervous.

That's the fix suggested by RAMGuy, the Corsair rep, for 8RDA+ boards which wouldn't POST with Corsair PC3200 pre-version1.1 modules. Worth a try... good luck!

Right near the battery. to the right a small blue thing. I ordered and recieved some OCSYSTEM memory PC3200 does post and work at 133 but ANY speed over 133 corrups the drive or gives a memory Error.
And I tried this on an ECS K7S5A and the same things. (ECS never did run 166 only 150 but rock stable with a crucial stick of PC2100)

I remember having problems with the physical fit of my Crucial PC2100 modules in my K7S5A. The notch didn't quite line up the way the DIMM wanted, and I had a heck of a time clipping the DIMM down. Turns out the DIMM was clipped down at the ends but high-centered on the notch! :Q Yes, this meant I was bowing the motherboard quite a bit. Anyway, moral of the story, can you get a good light and make sure the DIMM is in fact going into the slot alllll the way across?

i don't think that's the problem. i just gave up.

i'm gonna be buying myself some REAL ram in january anyway. the corsair i was trying came out of my wife's p4 northwood system. it'll stay there. only thing is it was 2 512MB sticks. :( oh to get 1 gig of ram again. :)

oh well, i'll have to live w/ 2 256 mb sticks till january.

Running at 133 w/ FSB at 166? Do you mean you're running your CPU and memory asynchronously? If so you may get greater performance by running them in sync.
