I've been improving the OC on my new motherboard/cpu/ram configuration and here are the results:

2003 Apr 03 09:28am 16.565,25.33 6.877 BLACKY 2:12
2003 Apr 03 07:10am 16.715,20.22 7.192 BLACKY 2:12
2003 Apr 03 04:53am 16.565,25.33 6.877 BLACKY 2:12
2003 Apr 03 02:36am 16.715,20.22 7.192 BLACKY 2:12
2003 Apr 03 12:19am 1.571,33.5 0.366 BLACKY 2:45
2003 Apr 02 09:12pm 1.219,18 0.417 BLACKY 2:35

I really like those High AR units ;)

A7N8X Deluxe
XP1700+ Tbred b 0307 Running 178 x 11.5 @ 2T-2-2-6 timings (2050 mhz);)
2 sticks HyperX PC 3000 256

EDIT: forgot to add, running seti it's temp is currently 43C

Edit again: Read that if you remove the jumper for cpu/fsb you might get better OCing - not being one to leave well enough alone it's now running Prime95 @ 179 x 11.5 ;)

Anyway ,still a nice fast rig you've got:D

what vcore have you got that at Wiz? ,mine is at 1.7v (reported as 1.75v) & my cpu is at 49C atm

Yes, you are getting a few minutes per WU faster than me.
I've got a high vcore @ 1.85 right now. If I can get Prime95 stable then I will try lowering that a bit and run Prime again.

Funny, the time difference seems to be just about what you gained by going with dual channel, I wish there was a way to confirm that your memory is running dual channel.

hmmm.... it's run 11.5 x 180 now for a while. Prime95 is chugging along.

Does this mobo maintain a 33mhz PCI bus no matter what the fsb?

In case anyone wonders removing the fsb/cpu jumper removed any multiplier choices above 12.5x
This isn't an issue for me because I want to get a higher fsb, not too concerned with the multiplier for now ;)

I love NForce2 and the new XP CPU's... must.resist...ordering...

would I be stupid to buy an XP2500+ Barton or something similar and a Soltek NForce2 board over my EPoX 4PEA+ 2.4B @ 3GHz rig?

... cause I am seriously considering it.

you guys both have better times than me and I am running at 11.5x190. I wonder if I need to back off the FSB a bit..........:Q oh no, can't do that.......

Yield, I usually try to justify the new stuff by selling off some "old" stuff.
I don't usually break even but the upgrades cost me less this way ;)

Mofunk - are you running 2T-2-2-6 timings?
Is your AGP locked at 66?

Mine is now stable at 11.5 x 180

I tried 11.5 x 181 and got a reboot after about 15 minutes of Prime95. This is as high as she goes until I get the chipset cooler installed. ;)

Removing the jumper on the cpu/fsb bought me a couple mhz!!

I can feel that my Epox 8RDA+ with 1700+ @ 2.1Ghz, and Samsung PC2700 DDR, is faster than my Asus P4PE, 2.4B @ 2.93, with same memory, hard drive (WD SE 80GB), GFX card (GF4 Ti 4200).

I wouldn't trade this AMD rig for an Intel rig, it's just so much faster than the P4 is, even with 800+MHz on the clockspeed!

If i were you, I'd go for a 1700+ or 2100+ Tbred B, and overclock it WAAAY high, because, from what i've heard, the Barton cores don't O/C as much, and the extra cache doesn't really warrant the increased price :)

I am at 2t-2-2-6 timings and my agp is locked ar 66. I am wondering if it's just that I have not gone through and disabled a bunch of the services that run by default. I am actually going to reload the OS anyway so I will see what I can come up with. I may try to drop down to 180 FSB, maybe I am stressing things too much and it is having an effect.

I ordered a chipset cooler yesterday and also one to cut up and attach to the mosfets. When I do that I will try the jumper trick and see what happens. These nforce boards with this 1700 tbred "B" are very nice arent they?

Oh yeah, very nice! ;););):D:D:D;););)

I think I need to reload my OS also, but I guess I'll wait until I can safely button up the box and not tweak any more ;)

Currently at 190FSB sync, 7-3-3-2, and 9.5x for 1.72GHz, ran Prime95 for 20 mins CPU time, and about 2hrs real time while playin BF1942, not a hiccup. Will try to bump the FSB and multiplier up a little, and reduce the timings, tho that will probably have to wait til tomorrow! ;)

Hey Wiz..

Where did your 8RDA+ go ??

Was it an error that you wrote you got the Epox, or did you switch?

Waiting to order an Epox 8RDA+ to I know I can get it with the C1(A1) stepping :p

Well even though it ran Prime95 flawlessly for a long time at 11.5 x 180 I got some font corruption in a web browser. WHo can tell if it was related to OC or just bad software? Anyway I backed it off to 11.5 x 179 for now & will try some more after the chipset cooling is installed.

yep:cool:
Re dual channel ,as long as they are in the right slots then you are in dual channel mode ,& you can confirm it using SSSandra ,it will show a slightly higher memory bandwidth than SC mode

Yeah, I've been using Sanrda to guage this a little.
I got a nice bump going from 11x - 11.5x - see:

It might be me confusing things, but I have been following several treads about the HyperX RAM, and Epox boards...

Want to know if its the good stuff :p

In denmark HyperX is almost half price for PC3000 HyperX versus Corsair PC3000. :disgust:

/edit
Found the thread, and It was MoFunk who got a 8RDA+, where you got the CPU and the RAM :p

Heheh... maybe I could start a new thread titled:

"Anybody get their chipset cooler installed on their Nforce2 mobo yet???"

Or I could just ask it here ;)

LOL

Since you ask, mine should be here today.

On a side note do you happen to use Outlook XP? The reason I ask is I am having issues with Outlook XP and the only thing I can sttribute it to is the nforce drivers and am looking to see if anyone else has problems. Outlook will just stop in the middle of a send/receive and drop connection. I have been told it is the modem, but I can download and upload all night long. I have plugged a few of my mail accounts into express and that one will get them all. So it is wierd.

heh... ATM I am having serious problems with everything related to Internet Explorer.
As you might be aware, Outlook uses IE - er, in MS speak "they are tightly integrated".
I pushed a bit too hard on the OC here and now IE is frelled so likewise is Outlook.
I wonder if I can uninstall and reinstall IE?

That being said I know of several people who have issues with Outlook XP, but I haven't heard that one before.
When it happens can you still browse with your Internet Browser?

I do not use IE so I have no idea. Interesting though I will have to check it out. I am going to test this a little and see if it's the nforce drivers.

I have my Vantec CDC-A1C chipset coolers installed.

Really made a difference on the reported CPU Temperature for before the chipset cooler installation the 8RDA w/2400+ XP was running 49C. Temperature after installation feel to 41C. :)

It hasn't made that big of a difference to my OC which is a little disappointing. I've been trying clock speeds of 11.5 and 12.0. I can run at 200 FSB @ 11.5 but above 203 FSB my computer corrupts the OS.

TIP: I have used Partition Magic to create two partitions (2/3 and 1/3) and have used Ghost to create an image of the primary partition to the smaller secondary one. When my OS got corrupted, I would simply do a "Partition to Partition" restore that takes about 20 minutes. Sure beats reinstalling everything. ;)

I have finally decided that I don't have one of the really great OCing versions of this board and have settled, for the moment, to the following:

Clock: 12
FSB: 197
Memory Settings (1X256 eXtreme 3200): 6:2:2:2.0
All fans at Max
Latest BIOS
All features not being used are turned off.

We can all monitor this computer HERE, "Smoke #9".

The TeAm Smokeball SetiQueue currently has 50 WU Results pending. My wife is currently playing Spider Solitaire on it so the next couple of WUs may be a little on the slow side.

That's looking pretty good Greg, those of us with the A7N8X boards can't seem to go over 178fsb without corruption - except the ones who are doing volt mods or extreme cooling. I think my WU's are averaging 15 to 20 minutes longer than yours currently.
Maybe I will see a better bump than you with the chipset cooling ;)
