A7N8X Hangs at post with pri. IDE connected

The system will not post at all and will hang at the Asus splash screen when and hard drive is connected to primary IDE. I've been running SATA drives (2 Seagate 120G) and wanted to use an 80G Maxtor for boot and use the SATA drives for storage. I plugged up one of the SATA drives and the boot/storage ATA drive I have and the system would not boot. I tried just the ATA drives and disabled SATA on the jumper and still no dice. All hard drives disconnected it worked fine. SATA drives connected, it works fine. And when it hangs it wont even go into BIOS...
