I just got me an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with BIOS 1009. I can't seem to install a non-RAID single SATA HDD. Windows XP Pro. Setup CD could not find any hard disk. BIOS also doesn't read the SATA drive either. Could I get some help, please? Thanks.

Did you hit F6 during the Windows setup to install SATA drivers?

Windows will not see your drive till it gets the drivers.

I did hit F6, but where is the SATA driver? There's no SATA driver diskette included with the board. Just one nForce2 CDd driver.

On the disc you get with that mobo, there is a SATA driver folder.
If i recall correctly, you just have to copy the contents of that folder to a floppy & then try reinstalling Windows. When it asks if you want to install any additional devices or whatever it says, you hit F6, & it will ask you for the floppy a short while later.

Obviously if you're using an unattended windows setup cd it won't install using the F6 trick.... unless you integrated the silicon image drivers in the cd.

I just got this board (Newegg refurb), it didn't come with anything except the board.

I picked up 2 80 gig SATA drives today as was about to start configuring for RAID1.

Where can I get the drivers that XP will want?

Edit: Found on Epox website. That's one thing I don't like about ASUS, not real good on finding drivers etc.

I'm guessing that since yours was a refurb, that's why they don't include a CD, but i really only know what mine came with, so it's hard to say.

Go to the official silicon image site.

Use the red blinking button "Product Support"

In the new window: "Downloads", "Drivers", the 10469 article in "Sil3x12", use the link on the right labelled "3x12_x86xrdvr_logo_10047.zip".

These drivers seems to be WHQL. They work great on both A7N8X-E and NF7S.

You unzip the zip on a blank floppy disk.

Use the F6 trick on beginning of windows setup.

Cheers.

Good luck!

It went OK. I copied the files from the SATA folder (in the CD) to a floppy diskette. Put it in the floppy drive and hit F6 during XP install.
