The following are the behavior I've observed when these two are connected:

1)Sometimes the mouse doesn't get detected at all when plugged into the USB.
2)Does get detected, but the IntelliEye blinks(turns on and off) at a constant pattern, with Windows detecting it whenever the light comes on, and goes off.
3)If properly detected, the IntelliEye still turns off occationally during use.
4)The IntelliEye turns off after long periods of inactivity, especially after the monitor is turned off by the screensaver. Refuses to light up again after that.

I've tried a clean install of WinXP Pro w/ SP2, new nForce drivers and everything else, thought the problem went away but it came back.

Plugged the IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 into another computer and it doesn't show any signs of weird behavior. Used the mouse on a USB-PS2 converter with the A7N8X-E Deluxe and all those problems went away. Also tried another mouse(IntelliMouse Optical) with the A7N8X-E Deluxe and it works perfectly fine as well.

I've searched the support sites of both Asus and Microsoft and came up with little help, here is the only article I found: http://support.microsoft.com/d...x?scid=kb;en-us;234786.

Is it the mobo? Or is it the mouse? Any help is appreciated!

That sounds like classic my-Microsoft-optical-mouse's-cord-is-breaking symptoms, and the IntelliMouse Explorer has a lifetime warranty, so call Microsoft if that's what it ends up being. Test it by holding the mouse down while moving the cord from side to side and see if it cuts out. That wouldn't really jive with how it only fails on the one computer, though, so maybe I'm on the wrong track

For the record, I used my A7N8X Deluxe rev. 2 with that exact mouse for more than a year, and while it's a slightly different board, it's close. It didn't give me those issues.

I tried holding the mouse down and moving the cord from side to side, and it didn't cut out. I'm now running it on a USB-PS2 converter, the USB ports just don't want to work with the mouse at all, and strangely, just this mouse; since my Optical which is more than 4 years old works perfectly on all four USB ports. I'm still thinking that it has something to do with the mouse, but I won't know that for sure until I run another Explorer 3.0 on it.
