A7N8X-E/AXPM2600+ setup decided to stop working

Long story short, I upgraded from my old Socket A setup to a new Athlon 64 X2 setup. I took the 6800GT out, put it in its ESD bag and in its box, and did the same for the motherboard. Now, I pulled them out to build an HTPC with an Antec Overture case, and the damn thing won't post. I thought the power supply was acting up, so I pulled my spare off the shelf (Allied 300W) and even tried my own PSU (Enermax 420W PFC), still nothing. It just turns on, for maybe 4 seconds, all the fans spin up, I do not hear the hard drive spin up, then shuts off. I tried to force it to fault during POST (if it is doing anything at all, no video output) by booting it with no RAM, but still, nothing.
Any clues??

Also, did you check if the motherboard is shorting on something? Try taking it out of the case and trying again. If that still doesn't work, then you've probably killed the CPU somehow. Since you can get a new Sempron 64 2600 and motherboard for around 120 bucks (which will probably be faster than your current setup anyway), I wouldn't bother looking for a new Socket A cpu.

Cleared the CMOS twice, replaced the battery after the first CMOS clear. I'm gonna pull the motherboard out and try booting it while its on the box or something.

Grrr, I took the HSF off to install the hard drive cage, and I didn't tighten it enough when I put it back on, it was shutting off to keep itself from blowing up
<--- Feels stupid
