A7n8X-E and CAS 2 Dual Channel

the FooL

As the topic says...
I just picked up a Patriot 2GB low latency kit but I can't run it at 2-3-2-5 as it's rated.
My other TwinMOS memory ran at 2.5-3-3-8, though sometimes I'd get a memory check failed message from the MB.

Just wondering if anyone can actually run CAS 2 dual channel on this board.
Which DIMM slots are you using and what type.

I'm not overclocking anything.

Say what??? Yes, it is a dual channel board.

the FooL: I run my A7N8X Deluxe in dual channel with mem timings of 2-3-3-6 using slots 1 and 3 with two 512mb sticks. Could be yours is having problems with 2GB of ram?

Asus link
It is a dual channel board.

I've only tested it on Slots 2 & 3.
I'll try 1 & 3 later tonight and see if they work.
My TwinMOS sticks were 2x512 BH-5 sticks.

I don't have an Intel board to test the sticks with.
My gf's PC is an A64, but I heard that some of the CPUs may have problems with DDR400 memory.

Thanks.

I've got an A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.0 not the E version and it works fine at cas 2.0 w/ some Buffalo Winbond CH-5 based chips. (2 3 3 10) I do have it at 2.7Vdimm though you might want to try upping the Vdimm to at least 2.6V w/ 2GB worth of dimms might even want to try 2.7V to get stability.

Well, slots 1&3 passed memtest for a couple of complete passes.
Prime95 fails within seconds.

I'll try messing with the timings before the voltage.

I was just looking for overclocking possibilities for this board when I came across your thread. Have you fixed your situation? I just installed new Kingston HyperX C2 in mine in slots 2 and 3 and they worked fine. I did have to adjust the timings manually in the bios but everything took and is running smooth. Timings are 2-3-2-6 and nothing is overclocked.

I have a Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with a Athlon XP 3200 and Corsair XL ram for my gaming machine. (I hate creative). Works fine.

theFool- I am looking at the same RAM you have, the patriot 2-3-2-5 DDR400 1gb sticks, in dual-channel, but on nforce3 not nforce2 like you are trying. I wonder if you ever got them stable at DDR400 at their rated timings? If not, I don't think that bodes well for my chances given the fickle nature of the A64 memory controller compared to nforce2.

Please post back, you're the only person on the web I've found using these sticks in dual channel (only 1 single channel "review" on newegg). Thanks a lot
