I installed a bios savior and flashed my bios on my a7n8x deluxe 2.0. (I updated from 1004 to uber 1007 with the latest sata bios). Then there was the yellow exclamation next to the 1394 net adapter #2 in the device manager and it said "this device cannot start (code 10).

I tried the firewire port and it didnt' work. I later realized that i had pulled off one of the wires for the firewire cable so there was no way that it could have worked.

Now the yellow exclamation is still there and the code 10 stuff is still there but my firewire device (dv camera) works on the computer after I reset the cables.

I'm guessing that when i flashed the bios with the cable off something happened that makes windows think that there is still a problem even with the cable on. but it does work.

Any ideas on if I should check anything else. I did re-flash the bios again both with the same uber 1007's and now the regular 1007's. Now that the cable is on but the exclamation is still there.

Also, is the 1394 net adapter #2 the same thing as the firewire port or is it something else?

As long as my dv camera can transfer to my computer i'm happy and it can do that now , but i'm always peeved by the yellow exclamations!

I've tried to uninstall the device but it always comes back.

My guess is Windows now sees the FireWire controller differently than before the BIOS update. Delete the one instance that has the yellow exclamation mark, reboot and see whether it comes back. If it does, try a driver reinstall from its properties.

I tried to remove and reboot but no success. The driver is nic1394.sys. I don't know where to find a newer driver. The current driver version is 5.1.2535.0 dated 7/1/2001. Seems old.
