a7n8x dlx 1.06 sticker under it 2.00 on mobo

Hi,
I have an asus a7n8x deluxe, between the 2e and 3e slot it is supposed to say the revision of the m/b, i checked it and I have a white sticker with 1.06 on it when I remove it I have the silver "normal" 2.00 that I can't remove (it is the same color and font as the asus a7n8x deluxe text).

I check on the NB and i say: Nforce2SPP G31883.1 0301a3 S taiwan
On the SB: Nforce2MCP-T FB2619.1 0306A3 S Taiwan

My question is which bios update should I take (the one for the 2.00 or the one for the 1.xx)?
Also if someone know why I have a sticker like that and not a real 1.06 on the board?

Thank you

Pier-Luc

It looks like you have the "Asian Rev. 2.0". Dunno, I picked that term up somewhere on nForcersHQ or AMDMB.com, you may want to check there for more info. From what I remember, the 2.0 boards that shipped in Asia are the equivalent of rev. 1.6 in Europe and the US; I guess they had overstock and began shipping these boards to other places and putting 1.6 stickers on them to avoid confusion. The Rev. 2.0s with the updated Crush-18D SPP are A1 on the chipset and C1 using something like WCPUID. Also, they will be flat without the sunken in quarter-sized circle unlike the older A2 and A3 NB chipsets.

Use the 1.06 drivers.

Good for you. This RMA crap has gotten out of hand.

There shouldn't be a problem. Just be careful when making BIOS adjustments, as this board is susceptible (as all nForce2 boards are) to the lost BIOS issue prior to Rev 2.0. Change only a few things at a time, and save then save and exit. If manipulating your FSB, make adjustments slowly. The only difference between Rev 1.6 and Rev 2.0 is in the chipset stepping (C1/A1 or Crush 18-D) which provides official DDR400/200MHz FSB. This is still possible on older revision boards though; I was able to hit 210MHz with BIOS 1003 with my Rev 1.04.

While in many regards I think your point is valid - welcome to retail. People are forever returning items they purchase at bricks and mortar stores and so it is with internet sales. If you pay a 15% restock fee, chances are you are paying over typical margin anyway.
Of course this only holds true for as new products - if you stick wires in the cpu socket and glue a VR to the board, and then RMA, you are raising the price of merchandise for everyone.
