Guys, I just bought a new board and memory. Here is my set up to get started.

Barton 2500 (Proven to do 215 fsb on my old board) Rev 2.0 with latest bios
Asus A7N8X Deluxe (I have everything on)
512 Buffalo Ch5 2 x 256 Meg Exact Same sticks
Maxtor 80 Gig 8 Meg Cache HDD
Lite On Rebadge 52x24x52
Old CDROM I know gives me issues (may be the prob)
XP Pro

Now here is my problem. It boots into Linux Mandrake 9.2 no problem and runs constantly. I get weird stuff sometimes which i think is stability issues. No prob I can back it off a bit. When i boot into xp it gives me the blue screen of death... and one of the errors is IRQ Less or Not Equal and starts memory dump. Ok so I am thinking something in the pci slot.. I dont have anything there. The only other thing I think it could possibly be is the old cdrom. I mean old. 16x.

What do you guys think? My processor did 215 with some xms and on my old stripped a7n8x. old meaning like 6 months old. lol

LMK what you guys think. Im thinkin cdrom on the ata channel.

Strip it down to bare bones and see what happens then.
If you know you have hardware with issues that very well could be the problem.

I havent seen a CDROM give those kinds of errors in XP. Try running Memtest86 for a while and make sure your memory is good.
