A7N8X Deluxe or TB Santa Cruz for sound?

I've got my new A7N8X-E Deluxe on it's way now! Should be here Monday!! I'm going to keep my current PC as a secondary PC and would rather not harvest any parts from it. The only question I have is whether or not to use the onboard sound or stick my TB Santa Cruz card in the system. I'm currently using the Logitech Z640 speakers, and mainly use the sound for watching DVDs and some FPS gaming. Suggestions on which to use? For my uses, is there that big of difference between the two?

Thanks!
Tom

I have heard many people ask this question and every one here always say try it out and see what you like your self..... Chances are in games the sound storm will be better but for other things ur TB will. The sound storm can VARY alot depending on which drivers you use as well. I use sound storm in my PC with my Z-640's and it sounds good so either way you are going to end up with great sound just depends on which you think sounds better.

I was in the same position as you were (keep the TBSC or use the SoundStorm), but after I tried the onboard SoundStorm, I'm never going back to my TBSC. I really liked that card, but the SoundStorm sounds so much better in games. The EAX2 makes a hell of a difference. It takes a while to get used to the way music sounds now with the onboard, but by no means does it sound any worse. It just sounds different. You can tell that it's coming from 4 seperate speakers now, instead of sounding "whole". Check it out and see if you can tell.

Soundstorm all the way. What a waste of money to get an MCP-T board and not use the Soundstorm :D To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with my Santa Cruz. Didn't sound much better than the onboard from my kt333.

I miss my TBSC (I used it for over 2 years) but I've been using the soundstorm on the 8RDA+ and now my NF7-S R2 and it is better. I say try the soundstorm and judge for yourself, but I think you'll switch like most of the rest of us did.

Thanks everyone for the responses! You have all helped put my mind at ease. Unless I have problems then I'm just planning on using the onboard audio. Unless it sounds like crap...which I doubt will happen :)

I guess I just have the post-order/pre-build jitters :)

Anyone following this thread please see the new one I just started concerning hooking up my capture card. Since the capture card runs audio out to the line in on the sound card, I'm really curious how I'm supposed to go about using 5.1 sound since the line in jack also functions as the bass/center jack.

Thanks,
Tom
