A7N8X-deluxe Dual LAN Sockets - Only See on In Windows XP Pro

Recently built a machine with ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe motherboard.

Installed Windows XP Pro.

When I click on Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections
I see the following:

Beneath the Lan or High Speed Internet, I see the 1394 Connection

Beneath the Network Bridge I see:
Network Bridge (Network Bridge) 2 Enabled
AND Local Area Connection Enabled, Bridged NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Adapter

I'm not clear as what the "bridge stuff" is and I don't see the other LAN connection (which if I understand correctly for the ASUS mobo, has two LAN ports NVIDIA and 3COM, and the one that I don't see is the 3COM port. Should I see it? If so, how do I make it visible?

An one care to explain what I have and under optimal conditions, what I should see?

The network bridge seems to be what XP defaulted to configuring for the 3Com card. It's being used to "bridge" between one network and another, basically turning your computer into a very expensive 2-port hub.

Perfectly sound way to default configure things, eh?

Remove the Network Bridge connection. Add a new LAN connection, and point it to the 3Com. That assumes of course that the drivers are loaded and the 3Com is visible in Device Manager.

Once that's done, you'll be able to set up ICS or two LANs or whatever you were planning to do.
