a7n8x delux SATA help

I have the a7nx8 deluxe and two 120gb SATA drives......is there anyway i can use the drives without them being RAID?
I'm a newbie when it comes to raid and SATA...i'm having major problems keeping this system running

You don't need to set them up as RAID, just plug them in and the SATA controller should recognize the drives. Then just boot off the XP CD and install the SATA drivers off a floppy(F6 at the beginning of setup while it's loading drivers).

hey it works!

i swear i did that the other night and it told me there were no storage devices found.

anyways, i'll install windows and see if it will continue to work
the other night i installed it on a striped raid array
everything went fine, i installed all my drivers, all my software, got seti up and crunching
did a quick reboot after sp1 installed and it told me the windows config was corrupt :(

I have a similar question. I've had my a7n8x delux (version 2)for almost a year and am now interested in putting in a single raptor sata drive as my main drive. I have the 1004 bios installed and i have had the sata ports disabled. In order for me to use a sata drive i will enable the sata ports and then:

1. do I need to update the bios to the newer 1007?

2. do i need to update the bios for the sata controller? And if i need to how do i do that? is that done as part of the bios update to 1007?

3. do I need to install any other sata drivers or will the drive be automatically recognized when i install win xp? If i do need special sata drivers which ones do i need (where do i find them) and when and how do i install them?

4. Is there a way in the bios to specify that i want to boot from the sata drive instead of one of my ide drives?
