ok i took a step into OCing and failed miserably...i had to pull out the cmos battery and replace it to get the puter back up and running. i am totaly scared poopless to do a bios flash. i had the guy that built my unit flash it when i bought it. but now i am back to the original bios. if i screw up the flash can i do the battery trick again or if I am not having any issues leave it alone and leavt the OCing to the "pros" or is there a easy step be step that can be listed here to help me along!

Thanks

You don't need to flash your BIOS anytime you mess up your overclock. All you do is reset the CMOS by shorting the jumper. That will in reset the BIOS settings and you should be able to boot.

god I love this forum........I thought i would have to flash after the boot failure. So the only time i would have to flash is to upgrade the bios not JUST because i tried some foolish settings?

this brings up another question.....DO I need to update the bios at all? I mean if I dont have any stability issues other than messing up on a OC i would not need an update correct? i have bios 1001G right now. Or should i just because?
Thanks for the info!!

The saying don't fix what ain't broke goes with upgrading your BIOS. IF you run into an issue that you think may be caused by your BIOS, try the BIOS upgrade. If you don't have any issues, don't bother. That's the rule I go by.
