wow,

this is for the deluxe version but really, $200!!!

pricewatch gives prices up to $50 cheaper for the deluxe.

maybe newegg isnt the way to go for this one.

They'll adjust their price when they finally get the product and know for sure what their cost is. They always do it that way.

ahhh,
i get it, it's just a very high place-holder price.
i guess this makes more sense than putting in a low price that they may have to raise later, less people get mad that way.
since their order is already placed and they know how much the board is costing them, i dont know why they cant give a real price yet.
i've been waiting for this one, but it was quite a shock to see the $200.00

I would still buy it anyway 😀 It'll go down for sure. The Soyo Dragon KT400s were @ $180 but easily fell to $130.

Interesting...hopefully this means the Epox 8RDA+ will be available soon as well. 🙂

Edit: $200??? For that price I thought it was the embedded graphics Nforce2...jeeeeez. If the non graphics Nforce2 board is $200...how the hell much is the graphics one going to be? Man...

does it have the Nforce APU or Realtek? I have a Radeon VE32MB how does it compare in terms of DVD playback to the onboard video of the Nforce2? i am not a gamer, just play Nfs once in a while.

Thanx

Edit: never mind abt the APU just realised that it's included.

Don't worry, nForce2 boards DEFINITELY won't be anywhere near $200 (except for the Chaintech board...but then again, considering what you get...).

its an add on bracket

Ummm...don't think so...that looks like the second serial port, not a video port. I would think they would have that on the mobo anyway. I don't think I've ever seen a integrated video port as a add on bracket like that...I doubt it would work well.

According to this review of the A7N8X board, there were issues with the layout with the placement of the cpu socket and atx power connector.

Evan, did you come across that same problem as well???

*sigh* yes of coures its a seriel port. I really thought it was odd that they would have a video port like that but today ive been posting without thinking 😛

All i did was look at it and it does look like a video port when you first look at it but its definatly a seriel port roflmao 😱

the a7n8x seems to come in 2 versions,
the regular a7n8x which has:
ATA 133 IDE, 8X AGP, 5 PCI, 3 DDR, 6 USB 2.0. NVIDIA® nForce2 SPP Chipset. 6 channel audio.

and the deluxe version which has:
SOCKET A K7 600-2800+(XP) (5)PCI(1)8XAGP(USB 2.0) (3)DDR (184 PIN) UDMA/133 RAID/ SERIAL ATA & FIREWIRE NVIDIA nFORCE 2 W/ AUDIO/ DUAL LAN ATX

according to cut and paste from vendor websites. it's hard to find the official word from asus

but the deluxe looks cool.
serial ata, raid, firewire, dual lan

i believe it's serial ATA raid, no actual raid by itself.

and i sure hope it's ~$150.. i need a motherboard and CPU soon.. very soon... my case, dvdr, 120GB SE... it's all just sitting there.. waiting, calling....

That actually seems to be pretty standard with the Nforce2 boards...the Epox versions have the dual LAN as well..

🙂

too bad the only distro. in my country doesn't want to bring in any epox mobo anymore 🙁
mind to get one for me and send it over to my place?? 😀 😀 😀

... and what is exactly the purpose of dual LAN? It's not like it makes LAN work two times faster or DSL line suddenly become T1 line.

Nvidia is aiming for the 'all-in-one' concept. An audio/video, router/server machine.

Looking at the photos of the A7N8X and the A7n266-C (nforce1), the placement of the socket and capacitors are the same. There are three more caps in front of the A7N8x (compared to two) but the distance is the same. An Alpha PAL8045 would have no problem fitting in.
