A7N8X and Radeon 7000 problem

I just got my A7N8X mobo refurb from newegg I installed everything and the computer booted up fine 2 or 3 times then when I rebooted, it would not respond to the power switch. I opened the case back up and the red LED (invalid AGP card) was on. My video card is a 64mb ATI RAdeon 7000 4x AGP 1.5v. The light stays on whether or not the card is in or out. I tried an old Savage 4 card with the same results. I would think that the light would go out if there were no AGP card installed. If not, the how would you be able to use a PCI video card. Anyone have this problem or is my mobo just bad?
