Setup:
Asus a7n8z 1001c
1 512 xms 3200 cl2
Xp 2200

I followed all the settings in this thread and it finds 512 memory but my cpu is now states 1350. I also get CPU HAVE OVER SPEED message when I boot. What do I need to change?

Also,
Anyone know why when I save changes in my bios the computer restarts and sits there?

Thanks,

What brand and model of power supply do you have? This person was having similar trouble with his nForce2 board and it turned out to be a power-supply problem (low quality overrated "300W" PSU).

I speculate that you are going into the BIOS, setting the CPU to its proper running speed of 1.8GHz, saving the settings properly, but when you restart, the additional power drain of this higher speed is causing the CPU to hang.

If the system hangs like this, the BIOS is programmed to start at the lowest speed on the next POST, because the usual cause of the hangs is that someone overclocked higher than the system could POST at. This explains the CPU HAVE OVER SPEED message.

A Sparkle Power 350W or 400W unit would get my vote, or an Enermax 351 or higher, or an Antec TruePower 330 or higher. Hope that helps. :D Welcome to the forums by the way. :D

Are you trying to run an unlocked XP?

I could not get my unlocked 2400+ to work properly while it was unlocked. I had to remove the last L3 bridge, then set it to auto and all was fine. Of course this did nothing to improve my mood as I had envisioned running that proc at 12*166 in sync.

That was my experience and I have the 1001g BIOS to boot.
