A7N8X 1.04 and SATA drives

Is anyone running 2 SATA hard drives on the Silicon Image controller that are NOT in a RAID array?

I want to try to pull this off if I can make it happen, but I want the drives to function independent of one another.

We have been trying to use 2 SATA drives with the A7N8X Deluxe Version 2.0 motherboard. The SATA drives are both 80 Gig Maxtor drives. We have been having a lot of problems with keeping both drives recognized. We are not using the the drives in the RAID configuration. I finally called Maxtor. They say that their SATA drives are NOT compatible with the Nvidia chipset controller on the Asus motherboard. The Silicon Image SATA controller may work fine, but it has to talk to the Nvidia chipset at some point. You may want to use a different motherboard without the Nvidia chipset.
