I'm putting together a system for my brother's Christmas present. I bought an A7N266-VM, xp1700, 2 sticks of 256 MB DDR RAM from Crucial, a 40GB Seagate HD, and Windows XP Home. Everything seemed fine until I noticed that only 480 MBs of RAM is diplayed under Control Panels -> System. I tried swaping out a stick, but found that regardless of which stick I swap out, only 224 MBs of RAM shows up. Is this a mobo problem or something else? Any suggestions would be appreciated. :(

Your forgetting that it's using 32mb of RAM as dedicated video memory ;) EDIT: Welcome to the forums :D

BTW he's gonna love it, I just delivered the one I built for my niece last night and she was thrilled! She was ripping her CD collection to MP3 and installing her games that didn't run on her old 200mmx before you could say Ho Ho Ho and marveling at the speed :)
