A7N266-VM-AA Bios Question.....

I just purchased another one of these motherboards, and for some reason i'm having all kinds of problems out of it.

The Heatsink fan comes on, and after about 5 seconds the board begins beeping in a high frequency loop. The manual says that a high frequency loop is either overheating, or a video problem.

I've tried a different heatsink, ram, even cpu, still get the same result. Anyone else have this prob?

A7N266-VM-AA
1800+ (Retail Heatsink)
512 MB Pc2100 Crucial Ram
350Watt PSU

Any help would be appreciated.

I've built 4 myself now, and the latest one I built a couple weeks ago did the alarm beeping during P95TT with 3DMock looping stability testing, I never had a problem with the others. Monitor went dead and the system did not respond to the reset button so I switched it off from the PSU. I opened it up and felt the CPU cooler and it was fine, the NB heatsink was scorching though! :Q After a few minutes I closed it up, switch the PSU on, pushed power and it booted right up, I checked the temps in the bios and all looked fine, I picked ignore for the Fan speeds and saved&exited. I started the stability testing again and it went all night and most the next day silky smooth despite the NB heatsink getting quite toasty again, so I have no idea why it went into Alarm mode unless the fan speeds dipped low/ were misread or something 😕 Long story, short, try ignoring the fan speeds and see if it goes away, if not RMA as suggested.

Thanks guys, i'm going to RMA to NewEgg today. I've used this board probably 5 times now, and never had a problem, I can't get video at all to change anything in the bios. Hopefully the replacement will be better.

Any chance you've got the heatsink on backwards? We have about 30 of them here where I work and I've never seen them do that, but there's a first time for everything. Better luck with the new one 🙂
