A7M266, doesn't make it through POST

If you get no POST beeps at all, could it mean the CPU is dead? The mobo itself seems fine, the case fan and the CPU fan are getting power, there's no smoke or anything 🙂

There's no signal coming out of the video card, I tried a different video card in case that was the problem, but neither worked.

I just want to know if I need to get the CPU checked out, or if the motherboard itself is to blame.
 
the one you have.also unplug and plug in your connections again.pay special attension to power switch and make SURE it is plugged into the proper place
 
First trying reseating your video card. Also what type of power supply do you have? I read a review somewhere that the A7M266 had problems with video when they were using power supplies which used less than 2.0 amps. I'll try to find the link.
 
It's an AMD approved 300W/6 A power supply.
Also, the manual says that a missing video card has a POST beep sequence, but like I said, no POST beeps at all.
 
Icenine256,... Did you change a setting in the bios that would not allow you to post again?

This is what to do... Unplug the computer, pull the mobo battery, hold a screwdriver tip across the clear comos contacts for a minute or so to drain remaining juice in capacitors (be careful not to damage voltage traces) Put your jen and dips on manual. (defaults of your cpu) Pull all cards but video. PULL OUT AND RESEAT MEMORY! , put battery back in and restart computer. You should be able to post if you have a good power supply and no damage was done to CPU.

By the way, did you ever have this system running?
Is your power supply on the right voltage?
Did you apply thermal compound? If so make sure it did not short out anything.(meaning contacting the surrounding bridges)
Is the motherboard touching anything it should not be?
Has the bios chip ever been removed? is it in the right way?(slots aligned) I once got a new board and it was in backwards! (I suspect that someone had returned it though it looked new)

Sacandaga talks sense. Also make absolutely sure the connector from the power supply is firmly secured to the board and that the locking clip has latched shut. I've lost a board, CPU and ram modules because the connector was only half in and because some of the pins mated and some didn't, then the power supply surged and......!!@??!!

This is too painful to recount! Just shows what life can throw at you.
 
I just installed the A7M266 and have the same exact problem. I can get the system going by using a system reset. Really bugs me.

Beyond this, it is a great MB and Fassssssssssssssssssssst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
