A7A266 Multipliers & TBred B 1700+

I just got a TBred B 1700+ and I'm trying to overclock it. However, the highest multiplier I can use on the A7A266 is 12.5x. So the maximum I could overclock is 2.083 GHz at 166MHz FSB.

Does anybody know how to get multipliers higher than 12.5x on the A7A266?

I'm using an A7A266 revision 1.03 with the 10 dip switches and the 1011 BIOS. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have it running at 2GHz right now (160x12.5) at 1.60V right now (Reads 1.63V in MBM), so I've just about reached the limit for this multiplier. That's why I need access to multipliers higher than 12.5x...

I don't know the answer to your original question about getting higher multipliers.

However, I am curious about your setup. Are your maxing out at 160 due to pc2100 dram or is the FSB getting flakey?

Can you adajust the FSB divider?

The rev 1.03 of the A7A266 does not support TBred processors. You need rev 1.10 or above to support Athlon XP Palomino and Thoroughbred cores.

http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/index.htm</A> link to Workarounds article. This is a very common problem as even many new mobos are unable to reset the 5th bit, article explains. But you will read that the 1700 has special problems in that manually resetting the 5th bit HI, (necessary for 13X and up), creates a 3X Multiplier code , (for Mobile CPUs only), that probably will not boot. so special boot procedures or add'l mods may be needed...read the article. And also recommend Multiplier Code, Circuits, and Tbred articles to develop a full understanding of AMD's Multipliers. Esp see Table of Settings in Tbred article for remaps from Reserved settings. etc.

I realize that my board doesn't have "official" support. But as you can see, I'm running the CPU just fine. I'm just trying to overclock it as much as possible using this motherboard.
