A7000 Netgear USB WiFi adapter

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Win 8.1 and a wifi card already in it from the factory as usual not strong enough . The Netgear A7000 USB WiFi adapter comes with a CD resource disc with 2 software install choices "Windows Adapter Software" or" Windows Standalone Driver" kind of confusing which one should I install. Thank you

If you just want it to work, install the standalone driver. If you want a 3rd party software app to check parameters and add extra clutter (that may run all the time?) then use the adapter software.

I'd avoid the adapter software unless you run into problems. Most people don't need it, but if you're just curious, install, check it out, then decide and uninstall it.

However, I'd first check to see if Netgear or the chipset manufacturer for the chip in it, has a newer driver version and use that instead if available.
