On HSA, sadly I'm with you. Very good idea, but looks like a dead end.

The first year that amd64 extensions were available in a processor was 2003. Who here had fully transitioned to 64-bit operating systems by 2005?

The HSA jury will be out for at least another year. Might be it fails. But it might be we just haven't seen the killer application yet. In either case, the latency between CPU and GPU was the biggest gripe developers had; props to AMD for solving the problem.
