Purchasing a laptop with one of these processors. Everything else spec wise is gonna be the same. 2gig ram, nVidia 7950GTX. I'm having a hard time finding direct comparisons between these 2 processors. most of the articles i'm coming up with on this site and toms hardware are too old and i'm getting frustrated. this is going to be mainly a gaming pc, tho I do some dvd decoding, winrar / quickpar archiving. Thoughts? opinions? facts? Any articles comparing these 2 would be greatly appreciated. There's so much info out there and i've spent all day looking. Thanks in advance.

Merom is around 10-15% faster clock-for-clock compared to an X2. The 4800+ is 2.4GHz and the T7600 is 2.33GHz. You'd need something like a 2.8GHz X2 to match the Core 2 system, so it's quite a bit faster. Not to mention that the 4800+ is a 89W part while the T7600 should be ~35-40W. There are no articles comparing the two because one is a desktop part (the X2) and the other one is a notebook part.

get the notebook with the merom chip in it.Ur batterylife will be a lot higher. And the performance will be better too.
There won't be any articles comparing the two cause 1 is for desktop and other is for notebook like furen said. For all the apps u mentioned the core 2 duo T7600 kicks butt.

If you wanted facts, well there is plenty of info in the net. Do a research. Most of us do when we want to know facts. Asking here is a good thing, but do not say what I said wasnt a goof response. I told you all you needed to know. If you want more do a deeper research.

uh yeah, thanks anyway alex. So anyway, thanks for the thoughts all, which, alex, is what I mentioned I wanted in my first thread. Opinions and thoughts as well as facts, I didn't say that you gave a bad response, I said I was expecting more of a response. Would you make this kind of decision based on the 1st thread that you made? I spent the day comparing the 2, and like they said here, you won't find any direct comparisons because apparently one is for notebook and one is desktop. Which is odd cause these are both available on a laptop system. I'm pretty sure i'll go with the intel from what i've looked into on my own, also the intel system has the widescreen format lcd, which i've come to really enjoy on my current laptop. getting it build through m-tech.
