so i upgraded from my old p4 2.26 rig that was using the stock intel northwood hsf, and i couldn't help notice that my machine is SO much louder than what it used to be. it sounds like the HSF is really really loud...can someone give me a comparison of the two stock hsfs, and maybe a reccomendation for a good silent HSF, at a moderate price?

Just put a ZALMAN CNPS7000A-ALCU in my newest box. Incredibly quiet. Great match for my Antec Sonata case.

okay, i'd just like to know the specs of the stock HSF before i look into another one. it's spinning at 5000rpm now. it's like a chopper. geez!

All I can tell you is I will buy the Thermaltake silent boost from you for $15 (I got two refurbs for that) if you buy it and don't think its light years quieter than the stock one at 5000 rpm !

Just get it ! You can;t hear them The Zalmans may be quiet, but not near as easy to install.

could just be that i don't have cool n' quiet.

it looks like the thermaltake silent boost does 21db at 2100rpm (does that mean it doens't go any higher?)

someone mentioned that i may have gotten a newer revision of the stock a64 HSF, because it looks like i'm running it a lot cooler than a lot of other dudes.

when i browse the net, i get around 36-37C, and my system temp is around 40.

any truth to this?
