A64 HSF, outta control?

hey dudes, my stock HSF seems to be running a bit loud, and the RPMs are almost outta control it seems (~5500rpm), though the temps seem okay at load. Suggestion?

LOUD ! get the Thermaltake silent Boost K8 ! Temps are fine, but too much RPM and noise.

What motherboard is that? Mines run about 5300rpms but doesn't seem loud to me. Could be the case holds the sound in better. Cause if I remove the side panel I notice a difference.
Using an Asus I did use Q-Fan before. It works if you wan't system quiet. Fan stays off most of the time.

Your chip voltage seems high.
Look for a new bios, check to see if there's any fan control in the bios, try coolnquiet if your motherboard supports it.

turns out there is no new bios. i also found out that it doesn't support cool and quiet? i'm not sure what that is. i'm going ot get a new hsf anyways, but will it run it a ridiculous rpm anyways? gahh...the annoyances of building new systems.

the temps look more normal now (because teh bios was reading the temp at cpu at 37c, but then the system was 47c)....

but the cpu voltage still seems a bit high...

is there a fan monitor on this? what is cool and quiet?

Cool and Quiet slows down processor depending on usage.
Right next to cpu says rpm of cpu fan. Assuming you got it plugged into the cpu fan header. So yes it has fan monitoring.

yeh, it looks like it has fan monitoring, but the fan is always running pretty high (around 4500+ when just browsing...)

anyway i can make it uh, go slower? it's pretty fuggin loud!

it doesn't look like it's doing anything

i can even set speed1 on like, 50percent, and the fan still goes at 4800rpms, when i'm not doing anything...

if i get the thermaltake a1838, is the max speed on the fan 2400rpms?

You said your system temp was at 47 but the CPU was at 37? Perhaps you're straining your CPU cooler because you have a bad airflow in your case. Try running the case w/o the side panel for a bit and see how your CPU fan reacts to that. If it slows down then you may just need to add some new case fans to increase your airflow. Remember, those Video cards create a good deal of heat as well. My case has a fan right over the CPU/Video card that pulls in cool air while the back has two fans pulling how air out. They are quiet case fans, not high RPM, but they move the air efficiently and I get a constant 37 or so while the case temp says 39-40ish unless game, then it raises a couple of degrees.
