A64 CPU and RAM interaction question

Does my DDR RAM clock of 166MHz (CBID and CPUZ confirmed) mean that my 4 sticks of RAM are running at the max for 4 DIMMs in a Newcastle A64 (333MHz [i.e. 166x2])? Or are they running at half speed?

yes unfortunately if you are using four sticks of RAM then the mem controllers on the old A64 cores revert the speed back to DDR333- 166Mhz over the standard DDR400M - 200Mhz, and to top that off it also runs a 2T command rate 🙁 ..

i would recommend that you scrap the 4x512Mb and go for 2x1Gb sticks that will give you 1T and DDR 400 speeds

Rich is correct.

However, i see no reason to be overly concerned about your RAM running @ 2T DDR333.

Yes, 1T DDR400 will offer better performance, but not by all that much that buying 2x 1024MB would be justified (unless you have money to burn).

I wish...I'm a poor college student (remind me to thank Duke for upping the tuition AGAIN) saving for an R520 (and an X2 after the price drops significantly)...

I was just wondering if my RAM was running sans divider.
