Backstory:last weekend I recieved an A64 2800+, Abit KV8, and OCZ DDR3200 512MB "Performance" series. After the CPU registered at 90-100°C and the LAN was not recognized (by the hub, and by the OS), I RMA'd CPU and MB. I recieved them today.

I installed the new CPU and MB. Upon boot, I check the CPU temp. 70°C. Also, the Hub still does not see the LAN. (with a built in LAN, the Hub recognizes that there is an active connection even when the PC is off but with power still connected) The chances of getting 2 defective boards or 2 defective CPUs in a row are slim to nothing. As such, I can only assume one of the following:

?I did something wrong in the install, like not setting a jumper.
?my PSU is not good enough (400W, non- name brand)
?my RAM is bad (even though it worked fine in my brother's system)
?God hates me.
?The retail HS/F is not good enough.

Does anyone else have an Abit KV8 (and posibly a 2800+), and if so, have you had any of these problems?

EDIT: for typos

i'm not sure about the lan, but it's a known issue with those abit boards to kinda exaggerate the temps. give it a try. :)

Okay, I flashed the BIOS and the LAN is recognized and upp. I'm now operating from said machine. However, the sound hase stopped functioning. Windows doesn't recognize the problem, but he sound doesnt work. The MB CD doesn't have sound drivers on it. WTF?

Really though, hase any other KV8 user had these problems?
