A64 754, 939, X2 and more

K guys here is the Dilemma

I have a 754 3000 chuggin along at a 2.46 gig clip...not great but not bad.

In games there is little advantage to getting dual channel so I would have to seriously get a major overclock...like 2.7 to make it somewhat worth my while.

Now there is the X2 so unless I am going to multitask what is a poor upgrader to do?

I have considered the 90nm 64bit semprons and overclock the begeezers out of it, but that just doesn't have the appeal I need.

I also have a X 800 AIW that runs 530/570 all day long and the only thing somewhat compelling is the GTX because for the money difference the FPS difference just isn't worth the cash. I have had this for over 5 months...I am bored...but what is a cheap overclocker to do without a complete makeover...and for what?? A little more performance for tons of cash...BAH I say!

Point me in the right direction guys!

Oh yeah...I ordered a DTR 3000 off newegg for 120 for something fun to try...who knows. I will post my results when done. My DFI only goes about 285ish anyway so we will see how that goes because that would be 2.55 but the extra cache does help a bit...just not in games. It isn't a complete loss if I get no higher since I have another 754 motherboard laying around.

What is it you're asking? Do you want a new chip or a new system or are you looking to extend the life of yoru current chip by overclocking it even more?

Nah...
Wait. M2 will be out soon; besides, you've been living with a single core for years, so why not wait just a little until more than 5 or 6 commonly used apps actually use the multi threading capabilities.

I would suggest you wait.

That is kinda what I am thinkin and the dual channel 939 upgrade just doesn't seem to have that much benefit in games...if I am wrong on that...someone please show me.
