A64+5/6 Divider = ???

I have two sticks of GEIL PC4000, that are supposed to do DDR 500 @ 2.5 4 4 7 or so out of the box. My question is : Does a FSB / RAM divider affect performance on AMD 64, mostly for gaming. I have heard that divider is generally bad thing, but I have also heard that the Athlon 64's memory controller makes it not matter.

The reason I ask is because if I can get a 3000+ that can do 2650mhz or so, that means FSB of approx 296, which I doubt my ram can do. So I would have to run a 5/6 divider, and am curious if this would affect performance. If it does, I will just go with the 3200+, but it would be nice to save 30 bucks.

Any tests or general insight much appriciated.

Thanks,
Mr. Jorge

Personally I would go the extra 30 and get the 3200 90nm. Why? Probably a little lessvoltage as well as less FSB to gedt the oc you want. also watch the onboard memory controller of the A64 because it is a bit trickier...
