A64 3700+

im trying to buy A64 3700+ 754 and i did search pricewatch for it
it seems like its all OEM?

is there any risk buying OEM instead of retail?
cuz every store's warranty for that a64 3700+ 754 oem is....kinda insecure...
or is that just how it is...

I dont want to like buy the cpu and it dies after the warranty period....

any suggesition/comments?

p.s is socket 939 more advance than 754?
if i buy, should i buy 754 or 939..

There are lots of 754's that aren't OEM. I don't recall ever seeing one in socket 939.

Socket 939 supports Dual Channel memory.

Get a s939, s754 is dead. Also, I don't worry too much about getting OEM over retail. I go for which ever is cheaper (yes, sometimes OEM is more than retail, don't know why). It's not like a CPU has moving parts that risk breaking, like a hard drive for instance. If you handle the CPU right (avoid ESDs), it should work from first boot up to when you hand it down to a nephew or something.
