A64 3500+ heatsink installation.

I'm trying to get the heatsink to attach to the second side, I have the side with the CAM lever already hooked. Apparently some force is required, but I am pushing a bit hard and am afraid I'll break my motherboard. Hlep!

You're not supposed to use the lever until both sides of the heatsink are hooked in. I'm assuming you're using the stock HSF which shouldn't be too difficult to install.

Did you try using a flathead screwdriver or similar to push down & hook the other side? I can tell you that's what I did when I installed the AMD HSF & nothing on my MB broke or cracked AFAIK.

you do NOT need any tools to install the stock A64 cooler.... try moving the lever the OTHER way to which it is, should be easy to do....

Of course tools aren't required but it's easier that way (for me anyways) & IIRC that's what the A64 HSF installation poster that comes with the PIB says to do.
