A64 3400+ - What's a good overclock?

Have an A64 3400+ paired with an HD4850. It's stock at 2.2 but I have been running it at 2.42 for some time. Tonight I messed with it a little and have it stable at FSB 235 X 11 = 2585. Games are playing at much better FPS and the computer feels "snappier" as a whole.

I'm just wondering what I should expect out of this thing. I have it paired with 2GB of Corsair Valuram and an NF4 motherboard. What was a good overclock for this CPU back in the day?

I had a 3200+ in my g/f's PC a couple of years ago, and ran it @ 2.4... something. It was in an Abit NF4 board.

I have a naked 3200 at 2.66 @ stock voltage...can do 2.8 with about 1.48 voltage...

What is stock for these things? My MOBO defaults to 1.4V, but I jumped it up to 1.45

Stock vCore is 1.50v for the Skt 754's, which IIRC were the only 2.2Ghz 3400's.

Sorry, I should have specified. My 3400+ is a socket 939

Stock VCore is 1.35V for S939. (Or it was for my 3500+ and my 4200+ X2)

You should be able to get it stable at around 250 HTT speed. Although I have seen people get their single core chips upwards of 275MHz HTT speed.

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it while searching for something. Just
thought I'd mention my brother's system is a 3400+, normally 2.4GHz, it currently
runs at 2.76GHz (230/12). I was rather pleased with this when I built the system. We
used a Thermalright XP-90 for cooling (the mbd is an Asrock K8Upgrade-1689).

I don't have any bench pics of the system in its current state, but I did try 3DMark2001
when it was running at 2.7GHz (225/12):

the result being 25310. Fitted with an X1950Pro AGP 512MB, it's surprising how well
the system handles Oblivion and Stalker SOC, though with Oblivion being so sensitive
to overclocks I had to run it at 2.64 for it to work ok; see:

Check the High Detail table, and note the 3400+ test was done when the system
still had just an old/cheap single 512MB DIMM, which we later replaced with a good
2GB OCZ kit.
