I'm currently upgrading to an A64 3400+ and I'm looking for a mobo.
I have 2 questions

1. Should I go with the Nforce3 250 or the VIA chipset?
2. Plz recommend some good models but not too expensive. I have looked at Jpeyton's recommendations but they are a little bit expensive. So...

Thanks

I would definetly go for an NForce 3 board.
I dont know how much is too expensive but most people on here seem to be recommending the:

Msi - Asus - Chaintech boards.

I have just built a s754 3400 newcastle for some one using a MSI K8N Neo Platinum and it's a lovely board.

Regards..

i am awaiting the same cpu with the Asus K8N-E DELUXE mobo. i should receive it monday (i received the case, ram, and optical drive friday from newegg (thermaltake tsunami, corsair value, 1gig and nec 2510a)).

i was going to go with the msi board but there were so many naysayers that i went with the asus. i'll post my progress and take pictures as i build my new rig (first one i build alone).

nforce3, get the chaintech VNF3-250 or the epox EP-8KDA3J. But if u dont need to get them right away wait for the DFI Lan Party.

dont get the dfi lanparty if you are not going to overclock and if you dont have a window on your case. though the lanparties are my favorite mobo, it wouldnt justify the extreme costs if you dont have/do the 2 points i stated.

So from the existing mobos which is the best for o/c? BTW I haven't seen someone recommend an Abit. Why's that?

So what's the extra features in ZNF3 that makes it much more expensive and does it o/c good?

And one final important question :

I'm worried about multitasking issues because it's one of the things that I luv with my P4. Will I have an issue with that?

DFI Lan Party UT. It's ~$130, which costs around the same as other NF3 mobos. Read the AT review and you'll be hooked.

Even processing tasks where Hyper threading is beneficial the performance gain is still marginal.I use a P4 and i would consider an MSI/A64 3400 a good upgrade.I cant imagine a scenario where you would lose out.

Ok thanks. If I recall correctly in order for an A64 mobo to o/c well you'll need PCI/AGP lock.
Does anybody know which ones offer that?
