I just recently bought a A64 3400+ Stock H/S ON A ASROCK k8S8X Bios 1.70 and its great

apart from the noise of the fan at fullload...well perhaps not full load...but 1st

section of Unreal2 'The awakening'.

The fan seems to spin from 3600rpm to about 5000rpm and at this speed it vibrates my

case ...lol

I assume the fan on the stock h/s is 70mm?...so i was goona put on a 70 >80 mm fan

adapter and a bigger, more cfm fan but less noisey, what do you think...any thoughts?

Regards

Ps I'm not planing on overclocking this.

If you are going to use a fan adapter make sure the fan is blowing out (away from the adapter). Otherwise you cause airflow problems.

There are some cool YS Tech TMD fans that are pretty. They have a central hub that is really small so they don't get as much of a dead spot. And they are way quieter than what they are rated at, seems to me. No fan tip vortex causing noise. There are several different models, shipping tends to kill the deal. I had one of these that came on this HSF
Had to RMA, it had a short I think.

May be worthwhile to get better than a stock HS, then you can 7-volt your fan or whatnot. Whatever the overclockers use.
