A64 3400+ 939 at Newegg

Yeah - I saw that article. I was hoping that someone had actually bought one and could share some details!

I don't see how the 2.4 GHz clock rate that Newegg has listed could be right. The 3400+ must be correct, because that's right off the chip designation. The 3500+ is 2.2 GHz, the new 3200+ 939 90nm is 2.0 GHz. A 2.1 GHz CPU wouldn't be 3400+, more like 3400-. :)

Update: Well, I found this, "The difference on the 3400+ is 800HTT vs 1000 on the 3500+. The only place i've seen this was on a product roadmap somewhere", here.

This is confirmed in this TigerDirect ad for the same processor.

I wonder what the effect on having an 800 MHz HTT over a 1000 would be?

We already know the answer to that... 100 "plus points" :p

Seriously though, I think when the A64 was first out, mobos were having a tough time getting high HT speeds. I don't remember it making a large difference.
