Hello all, I am new here but would like to say the AMD 64 is by far the best processor I have ever bought. I upgraded from a Barton 2500 that overclocked very well. Even with a slower clock speed it is running great. I am not one bit sorry I made the move. I have just recently added the X800PRO to the system and it has jumped my AuqaMark 3 scores up to over twice what they were with my old graphics card. As far as stability issues I can honestly say I have not had 1 processor caused crash. So it is very much stable. I have tested the Windows XP 64 Bit but it is a very unstable operating system and there are major conflicts between it and the new ATI 64 bit drivers.

i don't know what aussie dollars measure up to, but if 100 Aussie is as significant as 100 USD, or even as much as 50 USD, go for the 3000+, the extra cache isn't that important
EDIT: I love how i just ignored the nonsense in between this post and the last important one

Last time I checked the American is $69 to our $100, so my FX5900XT-VTD128 cost $241.50 American.
Were obviously have a dearer dollar over here hey.

Nice flame thread.

The A64 3200+ is the better value than the 3200+ AXP IMO all things considered, despite what the OP might think.

Oh yeah, and if you're so concerned about "supporting the industry" and so anti-overclocking, you shouldn't be concerned about value in the slightest. Go buy a P4EE and stop posting threads like this if that's your focus, seriously. Oh and a 775 chipset while you're at it, they can't overclock more than 10%.

I ended up getting a A64 3200+ becuase:

1. I use my pc mre as a game pc and the A64 3200+ beats most CPU's

2. I do encode video's and mp3's and stuff, my current XP 1800+ is pretty quick and I normally start encoding and goto bed so the A64 3200+ will be quicker but it aint much of a issue.

3. None of my friends have a A64 CPU so im setting the mark so far, my new pc will kick all there arses.

4. I normally upgrade once a year the neo can take upto a A64 3700+ so if i wanted I could just get one of those next year.

5. Just because I can, I had enough money to get one so i thought oh well why not.

I'll post my benchmarks when i get it in a few days time :)
