Looking to overclock with water cooling. Already have a DD setup. Need to know which cpu will I get the best performance and speed with. Thanks

Also is it worth me doing this setup over a sempron 64 overclock.

I built a 2800+ sempron and had it do 2.4 on stock hs/fan and default voltage. And I have read that the 3100+ will do 2.7 with ease. Some cases even higher....

What do you guys think. I am trying to build on a budget and these are my choices. What is my best bang for my buck. I also have a x800 xt pe and a 1 gig of ram I am throwing in with this setup. Should be nice. If I go with the 939 I could end up spending $100 more and will I really get that big of a speed boost??? I have seen bench marks of the sempron @ 2.7 around a 4000+ and in some cases beating it. I also have to get a 754 or 939 with AGP. Thanks again.

I've got a Sempron, and while your mileage may vary, I think the low l2 cache ultimately cripples the chip. Kind of sad, really, since the early palermos were hitting 2.4ghz pretty easily(well, the 256k l2 cache ones anyway). Avalon had a lot of luck with his.

If you can swing it, just get the 3200+. Better platform availability for future upgrades. I'd seriously look at this review too:

With this board being available from ASRock, I don't see much use in going 754 anymore.

Btw, if you *do* go socket 754, take a look at getting an Athlon 64 2800+ with an AX core. You should be able to hit 2.5ghz easily on one of those. Pair it with the good ol DFI Nforce 3 board, and you'll be set, albeit a bit out-of-date.

the 3200's multiplyer is 10, so it makes OCing a little easier. But they both will generally reach 2700mhz easy, but 3200 might get a little higher.

the venices you posted are e6's which usually oc to about 2.6ghz maybe higher with the 3200+. i bought a 3000+ e6 just to test it and it hit 2.6 fairly easy on my system in my sig. the BW means its an e6 if its BP then its an e3 which is what i have in my sig.

i too, also built my system on a budge so i went with an nf4 board so i'd have a long upgrade path for dual core later. a 939 nf4 mobo is what i suggest.

on a side note: soccerman06, your rig is siiiiiiiick :D
