Holy

He is running a 5:3 divider Vcore at 1.75 . I can't imagine a 3700 A64.

Whoops,

It's on the nforce 3. I think he did one where it flopped at 230 FSB on a via chipset, still pretty good for a ASUS via KT800 without PCI/AGP lock.

Crap, this will be the 3rd mobo I would be reinstalling. Maybe in a few months.

:Q... I guess this is as close as we're gunna get to the S939 3700+'s performance right now.. and I like it! ;)

Now stick one of the puppies with a RV420 or NV new generation. Half life 2 will play like a breeze. RV420 coming out just in time for tax returns! With Bush Jr.s tax cuts + school deductions, whoa.

Damn thats fast. Anyone want to explain to me how clock core speeds are defined and how these dividers work? Not to mention why does overclocking screw with AGP/PCI bus speeds?

I don't think I can be the best guy to answer for you tabb, but heres a bump for the morning crowd that hopefully can answer.

I just tried to get my ASUS to 2.3. I got mixed results; bad and worse. It either didn't make that much of a difference on my PC or, even worse, over heated my Radeon. Gave me a scare thinking I killed my 250 dollar graphics card.

Better off waiting until the 3700 A64 than to attempt this on a Via chipset.

Prometia, the same cooling that gets pentium 4s to 4.3ghz.

Yep. in fact majorslaughter posted about his A64 hitting 2.73ghz here in the CPU forum on a K8V back in October using clockgen when he and a couple of the other XS guys were bouncing back and forth for the 3DMock2k1 lead.

EDIT:LMAO! I just looked and that's actually the thread he started about the K8V and A64. macci points out the clockgen on the 2nd page ;)

Yeah, I tried the clockgen. The highest I got stable was maybe 2.25 with a 5:3 divider. But thats maybe because I didn't want to push my vcore to 1.7 . For a guy to say he's unemployed, he sure has a lot of money to spend. He could kill his 400 dollar CPU and 300 dollar GPU all in one shot, props to him.

Side note: I think ever since the HTT came along, running a A64 on a divider isn't that big of a performance hit anymore.
