Hi,

See topic for rest of hardware. I currently have that and an eVGA 6800GT.

If Outpost ever decides to ship, I'll have 1GB of PC3200 RAM coming, however at the moment I'm stuck with 512MB of PC2700 Kingston ValueRAM.

Anyway, I'm wondering if my CPU is set to 3000+, if my FSB is set to 166 or 200, and if my computer is running near max potential right now. I let the motherboard choose its own settings; I didn't choose a thing. I'm confused as to what's set lower in my system right now and what benefits I'll see going to PC3200.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm running CS: Source and getting about 30-45fps running around in most maps at 1280x1024 with all details on high, reflections set to world, 8xAF , 0xAA. This is fairly unacceptable as I dumped Soundstorm to get massive performance gains and I haven't seen em yet.

If/When I get the extra RAM will I see a (hopefully tremendous) speed increase?

(PS - Also wondering if I should cross-post this to video forum since this is also a video question?)

Hmm... while running the game, check how much memory you are using. If it is over 512mb then you re into your page file and that can REALLY slow things down, however, if its under 512 then run some benchmarks like 3dmark to see if its just CS or everything that is running slow.

Things you could try in the bios are making sure the command rate is set to 1T, fsb is 200 with the 5/6 memory divider (you could try it without the divider if you think your memory can take it). Make sure fast writes are disabled.

Go ahead and post in the video forum, it might be a driver issue or some other common bug with CS.
