Hi

Im a newbi when it comes to pc.

Hope ypu guy's can help a little

Looking at bouilding a new system. Its going ty be used for games and multimedia.

First I looked at :

A64 3000 Newcstle (heard it should oc pretty good).
MSI Neo Platinium
ATI 9800 pro
RAM : Kingston 1 x 512 HyperX PC3500 (cl2)

Thats about what my budget will allow.

My friend offered me to buy his A64 3400 for the price of a 3200 1mb cache would you guy's recommend it?

Was thinking of shelling out a little bit more for Nvidia 6800 non ultra 128 mb. Would it be ok?

RAM suggestions??

All suggestions a VERY welcome

Thanks

Ok thanks. Will go for the A64 3400. Is that ok though its the 512 cache version?

Should I go up in budget and go for the Nvidi 6800 non ultra og go for the cheaper 9800 pro??

Thanks for the quick respons

I think since you can get the 3400+ for cheap, it should be a very good choice. If is is a 512 part like you said, it runs at 2.4ghz and should be a great overclocker. Although the 3000+ is not a slouch either. Do you plan on overclocking? If so, you might want to look a little more at motherboards. The MSI Neo Platinium has been having a fair amount of quality issues lately. Should be fine, but there are lots of people complaining recently with various problems, mostly related to overclocking though.

If you get a 6800, be sure to get the GT. It has all 16 pipelines and generally can be overclocked to Ultra speeds. The 9800 Pro is a great card (it is what I run), but if you have the funds to spare, the 6800 should rock for a long time to come.

If you are overclocking, some OCZ PC3500EB is a awesome choice. mine clocks very well. I also hear that the new Crucial Ballistix is getting some good clocks on the A64 platform and it is not very expensive (yet). If you are not overclocking, some OCZ PC3200EL should work fine as it is fairly cheap and has good timings.
