its listed in their 1.8 ghz section, but the description says 2.0 ghz.

lots of varying reports on this CPU, some say it has 512k, some say 1.8ghz.

the mobile one is 1.8 ghz though so im betting on that.

Specification
Model: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Core: ClawHammer
Operating Frequency: 2.0GHz
FSB: Integrated into Chip
Cache: L1/64K+64K; L2/1MB
Voltage: 1.5V
Process: 0.13Micron
Socket: Socket 754
Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, 3DNOW!, 3DNOW!+
Packaging: OEM(Processor Only)

1MB L2 cache and 2.0GHz, usually AMD tends to give their mobile CPUs a slight bump in rating as they are intended to be rated as "mobile CPUs"... which would "justify" their marking a 1.8GHz A64 as a 3000+...

That is 1.8 GHz CPU. Newegg listed it as such and then they wrote 2.0 which of course makes no sense because that one is $200 more.

I am looking at that data sheet but I don't see it there, except for mobile one which is BE not AE. It is also listed as 1.8 GHz, which is likely this one.

The trouble of this CPU is that it is going to be very hard to overclock it to 2.2-2.3 on 754 motherboard. If you cannot do that, say if it is only overclockable to 2.1 GHz then this is no better than Barton at 2.3 GHz which are the new 2500+ capable of.

The AMD data sheet linked above reveals that the CPU pictured at newegg is indeed a 512KB part, according to page 6 of the data sheet. It appears that the data shee does not directly mention these "Newcastle" processors, but it does clearly indicate that the processor at Newegg is NOT a 1Mb part.

"ADA3000AEP4AP" -> the '4' in " . . . 4AP" indicates that this is NOT a 1Mb part. The 1Mb part list as " . . . 5AP"; see page 6 of the data sheet.

Interesting!

If this is 512 L2 CPU while it runs on 2.0 GHz then it is possible to overclock it to 2.3 GHz. If so this would be just a little slower than 1 MB CPU at the same clock, say perhaps 50 MHz. But if this is only 1.8 GHz then you will need a super motherboard to get it to 2.2-2.3 GHz. Well, you never know. I have 3200+ A64 and it is not as impressive as one might think. Not at all. I don't see much reason to go lower than that, even for "only" $215. I think it is just about a month or two away when AMD will drop 3200 A64 prices lower anyway.
